India made 147/2 in 24.1 overs when rain interrupted the play.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Men in Green came into this encounter with an unchanged XI from the last game. India had to make two changes as Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul came into the side for Mohammad Shami and Shreyas Iyer, who suffered back spasms.
The opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a positive start, with the latter doing the bulk of the scoring. They accumulated 61 runs in the first powerplay and went on to add 121 runs for the first wicket.
However, both Rohit (56) and Shubman (58) got out in successive overs and Pakistan managed to restrict the run flow easily. India was batting at 147/2 in 24.1 overs before rain brought the action to a halt. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who is playing his first match after injury, are batting in the middle.
In the 24th over, Haris Rauf beat KL Rahul with a brilliant delivery that moved off the pitch to hit the Indian batter on his back leg. Rauf and keeper Mohammad Rizwan went up in appeal, but the umpire remained unmoved.
Rauf then consulted Babar for a review, the only remaining for Pakistan, but Babar was convinced that the ball was missing the stumps. Rauf in the process almost forced Babar to opt for the review, following which the Pakistan skipper kept gesturing to him that it flying over the wickets.
Seeing Babar and Rauf engaging in banter, Rizwan and KL Rahul also broke out in a wide smile.
