Inzamam-ul-Haq also questioned Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s body language.
Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was surprised and dejected to see Virat Kohli under pressure during the India vs. Sri Lanka Super Match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Tuesday (September 4).
He further questioned Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s body language throughout the Super 4s match against Sri Lanka, saying the way the senior players were behaving on the field, sent a message that the Men in Blue were under intense pressure and impacted junior players.
Notably, Kohli was bowled out for a duck by Dilshan Madhushanka, as Team India posted 173 runs on the board thanks to Rohit’s scintillating 41-ball 72 knock. However, the Islanders chased down the target in the final over to qualify for the Asia Cup 2022 final.
Inzamam said in a video shared on his YouTube channel: “I was surprised to see Virat Kohli bat. I was surprised and dejected too, because a top player, who seemed like breaking all batting records, looked under pressure. He played four dot balls and he looked tense. When senior players look tensed, like Rohit Sharma's reaction when KL Rahul got out as he rarely shows emotions, it sends a message to the dressing room that you are under intense pressure.”
He added, “The junior players are under pressure. I was surprised to see it. Seniors may feel pressure from the inside, but they don't show pressure with their body language. The same message goes to the opposition also. But if you show that you are under pressure then it sends a wrong message to one's own team and the opposition team. Your team goes down and the opposition goes up.”
