Team India are on the verge of Super-4 elimination from the ongoing Asia Cup.
The Rohit Sharma-led side started the tournament with a bang, winning both their group matches against Pakistan and Hong King. However, their campaign took a beating in the Super-4 stage of the competition.
While the defending champions still have a slim chance of making it to the final, they need other results to go in their favour.
After the loss against Sri Lanka on Tuesday (September 6), skipper Rohit Sharma addressed a press conference wherein he was quizzed about the possibility of an India-Pakistan final in the Asia Cup 2022.
Rohit's response left everyone in splits as he said: "Hoga na, kyu tension le rahe ho (Don't worry, the match will surely take place)"
After back-to-back defeats in the Super-4 round, India are now dependent on both Afghanistan and Sri Lanka to reach the final. Both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan need to beat Pakistan and the Men in Blue have to get the better of Afghanistan by a decent margin to make it to the final on the basis of a better net run rate.
If the aforesaid conditions turn out to be true, things will come to NRR and one team between India and Pakistan will enter the finals. So, it is now certain that the India-Pakistan final in the ongoing Asia Cup won't happen.
