Mohammad Amir had announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020.
The appreciation posts for Hardik Pandya are still flowing on social media, with the former Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir becoming the latest to laud the Indian all-rounder for his heroics in the Asia Cup 2022 clash between India and Pakistan on August 28.
Pandya was the hero for Team India in their five-wicket victory over Pakistan in a last-over thriller in Dubai on Sunday, as the Men in Blue began their Asia Cup 2022 campaign on a high note.
The all-rounder had first snared three wickets while conceding 25 runs in his four overs and then went on to play a much-valuable knock of 33* off 17 balls and finished off the match in style with a six at the same venue where they suffered a 10-wicket defeat in T20 World Cup 2021.
Hardik had shared a post on his Twitter showing how things changed for him from 2018 to 2022, as he was taken on a stretcher from the stadium during the 2018 Asia Cup, and this time, he took India over the line against the same opposition – Pakistan.
The all-rounder captioned the picture by saying: "The comeback is greater than the setback." The post melted many hearts, including Amir, who shared the same post on his Twitter handle with a caption: “Well played brother.”
Pandya told Ravindra Jadeja in a video uploaded by BCCI about the injury: “I can remember those scenes where I was taken on a stretcher and it was the same dressing room. So there is a sense of achievement with whatever has happened. As players, we get the fruit but I would like to credit Nitin Patel and Soham Desai (team physios) who have worked so hard on me for my comeback.”
