The Asia Cup 2022 tournament will begin on August 27 and will be played in UAE in T20 format. The final of the tournament will be played on September 11 in Dubai. Sharjah will also host a handful of matches.

India and Pakistan will play each other for the first time since the 2021 T20 World Cup when they face off in the Asia Cup on August 28 in Dubai, which will host 10 games and Sharjah hosting three.

India is the defending champions of the Asia Cup, which was last played in 2018 in an ODI format. And incidentally, the victory came under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma at that time, as Virat Kohli had opted to give the tournament a miss.

Asia Cup 2022 schedule revealed; India-Pakistan clash on August 28

However, with August 8 being the deadline for announcing the squad for the tournament, Team COC presents to you the Probable 15-member Team India squad for the Asia Cup 2022.

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli along with Suryakumar Yadav basically select themselves as the top order of the Indian batting lineup. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are expected to open the innings with Virat Kohli at 3 and Suryakumar Yadav at no.4.

Shreyas Iyer, who has been batting at 3 in Kohli’s absence until now, hasn’t done much to back his claim to be picked in the squad.

Next come in the big-hitting artillery in Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya. All four of them will be highly instrumental in India’s newly aggressive approach in the T20Is given their ability to hit big shots from the get-go.

Jadeja and Pandya also provide 4 overs of bowling which helps India in preparing the best bowling attack possible. Another outside pick can be that of Deepak Hooda, who had impressed with his big-hitting and shown that he is capable of holding his own with the ball as well.

Expected to join Jadeja in the spin department are R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. Another option can be Akshar Patel as well, but with R Ashwin coming back into contention and him being part of match-ups against left-handers, Akshar might have to wait for his turn.

Now comes the most important aspect of the squad, the pace bowling department. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah select themselves while Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh are expected to be the first-choice picks by the selectors.

Both Harshal and Arshdeep have brilliant records in death overs and have variations to even pick wickets with the new ball as well. Though India has the option of Avesh Khan as well, his recent outing in death overs does not instill confidence in his abilities.

Here is the COC Predicted Probable Team India squad for Asia Cup 2022:

Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin
