Pakistan have made a change to their Test squad for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh with fast bowler Aamir Jamal released due to fitness issues.
Aamir, who was earlier included in the squad subject to fitness clearance, has been advised to continue his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
The right-arm quick is recovering from a back injury that he sustained while playing County cricket this year.
After Aamir’s release, Pakistan's squad for the Test series against Bangladesh has been trimmed down to 14 players. Earlier, spinner Abrar Ahmed and top-order batter Kamran Ghulam were released from the squad as the team management opted to go with an all-pace attack in the first Test.
Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah will spearhead the fast-bowling unit that also includes Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza.
Pakistan are currently holding the sixth spot in the World Test Championship standings and will be looking to win the series to move back into contention of reaching the one-off final at Lord’s next year.
The first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will commence from August 21 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while Karachi’s National Stadium will stage the second Test from August 29 onwards.
