England will travel to India for a five-match Test series early next year.
With this style, the Three Lions have produced impressive results under the regime of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum over the last two seasons. While England defeated New Zealand, South Africa and India (one-off Test at Edgbaston) at home, they whitewashed Pakistan away from home and played a 1-1 drawn series in New Zealand.
England didn’t change their approach in the Ashes 2023 as well. Despite being 2-0 down, they played fearlessly to bounce back and level the five-match series 2-2 against Australia.
The tour of India early next year will pose the next biggest challenge to England. The Stokes-led side will travel to India for a five-match Test series, scheduled to be played from January 25 to March 11.
With nearly a month remaining for the Test series, former England captain Michael Vaughan has warned England against a catastrophic result in India.
"Ultimately, the hardest place to play in the world is India and if you actually go back to the Ashes when Nathan Lyon was fit and bowling nicely, Australia were 2-0 up in the series. Now that's just one spinner, if you look at that five-for he got at Edgbaston and the field was spread and England got out to him by playing ridiculous shots at times,” Vaughan told Fox Cricket.
"If you add in Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar Patel on spinning wickets in India, they may get blown away, they may get absolutely destroyed. They will go out and play exactly the same way, we've already spoken about the impact they are going to try and achieve in India with the way they play.
"It will be great watching, but you will have to fancy three quality spinners might do a job on England when one quality spinner in Nathan Lyon did the job in English conditions. It's going to be very tough for them to win in India," he added.
The red-ball series is slated to get underway in Hyderabad with the first Test scheduled from January 25-29. The second Test will be in Visakhapatnam (February 2-6), the third in Rajkot (February 15-19), the fourth in Ranchi (February 23-27) and the fifth and final Test will be played in Dharamsala (March 7-11).
