England are enduring a tough time in the ongoing Ashes series against Australia at home. While the hosts lost the opening Test at Edgbaston by two wickets, they suffered a 43-run defeat in the second Test at Lord’s.

The Three Lions need to win the remaining three Tests to avoid losing the Ashes at home since 2001. They are currently facing Australia in the third Test at Headingley.

Ahead of the start of the third Test, an unusual incident took place on the entrance of the iconic stadium in Leeds.

As per a report published in The Times UK, England head coach Brendon McCullum was denied entry into Headingley as he did not have a pass.

"Brendon McCullum, the head coach of the England cricket team, found himself in the tricky position of being refused entry to Headingley before the opening day of the third Ashes Test because he did not have the correct pass," the report stated.

The report also claimed that the security guard failed to recognise McCullum, who eventually lost patience and walked through.

"The security guard on duty did not recognise McCullum, who tried to argue the toss while the person accompanying the New Zealander pointed out that it was fairly critical to the England team's chances that he was allowed through.

"There was a short impasse while the guard tried to radio through a superior for advice, and eventually McCullum lost patience and walked through, saying: 'You'll just have to deal with it.'," the report added.

Talking about the Headingley Test, Australia bundled out England for 237 to take a handy first-innings lead of 26 runs. Skipper Ben Stokes waged a lone battle for the home team, scoring 80 off 108 balls.

For Australia, captain Pat Cummins starred with the ball, picking up six wickets by conceding 91 runs in his 18 overs.

At stumps on Day 2, the visitors were 116/4 in their second innings, stretching their lead to 142 runs with Travis Head (18*) and Mitchell Marsh (17*) unbeaten in the middle.
