Australia captain Pat Cummins was found guilty of falling prey to his habit of bowling no-balls as this time Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane got a reprieve thanks to his folly on day two of the ICC WTC 2023 final at the Oval on June 8, 2023.

Australia posted a formidable total of 469 with Travis Head making 163 and Steve Smith making 121. David Warner (43) and Alex Carey (48) also contributed well after they were asked to bat first by India captain Rohit Sharma who had won the toss.

For India Mohammed Siraj picked 4 wickets, while Mohammad Shami and Shardul Thakur took 2 wickets.

In response, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill fell for 15 and 13 respectively, while Cheteshwar Pujara was bowled for 14. Mitchell Starc got Virat Kohli for 14 with a ball that bounced out of nowhere, leaving India 71/4.

It could have been five wickets as Pat Cummins got Ajinkya Rahane plumb in front of the stumps and the on-field umpire had given the batter out.

However, replays showed that Pat Cummins had overstepped by centimeters and gave Rahane a life.

Meanwhile, this reminded cricket fans of his habit of bowling no-balls and someone dug out a video of him bowling in nets and overstepping by a huge margin, something he acknowledged in the tweet caption as well.

He tweeted: “Final prep in Sydney before flying out to England in a couple of days. All the boys buzzing for the Uk trip. Huge few months coming up P.s. yes I know this is a no ball

Given that Cummins bowled four no-balls on day two, it was enough for cricket fans to troll the Australian captain, especially after his habit gave Ajinkya Rahane a crucial life in the WTC 2023 final.
