The fans were on the edge of their seats when England needed just two runs to complete a 2-0 whitewash over New Zealand in the Test series whereas the Kiwis were one wicket away from victory in Wellington.

As it turned out, Neil Wagner ended James Anderson’s resistance, helping the hosts register a famous 1-run win to square the series 1-1.

Anderson and Jack Leach tried everything to finish the chase after Ben Foakes was dismissed by Tim Southee on 35. The duo added four runs for the final wicket and was two runs shy of the target when Wagner got Anderson caught behind.

It wasn’t the best of deliveries by the Kiwi quick but Anderson went for a flick down the leg side to get the winning runs. Unfortunately, he got a faint tickle and Tom Blundell dived toward his right to seal the deal for the Black Caps.

As soon as Blundell completed the catch, contrasting emotions were witnessed in the two camps. While Anderson was left gutted as he murmured words to himself, unbelievable scenes of jubilation were seen among the New Zealand players.

Here’s the video:

It is worth mentioning here that the one-run victory is only the second in the history of Test cricket after West Indies' win over Australia in 1993. Furthermore, the match also became only the fourth in which a team won after being enforced follow-on.
