SL v AUS 2022: Sri Lanka announce 18-member squad for two-Test series against Australia

The two-match Test series is slated to get underway in Galle on June 29.

Sri Lanka have recalled leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay to their 18-member Test squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Australia.

Vandersay, who is yet to make his Test debut, was handed a one-year suspension following a disciplinary breach over a night out during the West Indies tour in 2018.

Vandersay, though, is now back in the Test squad after having taken five wickets in the recently-concluded ODI series against Australia, which Sri Lanka won 3-2.

Sri Lanka have picked a strong spin unit, which includes the likes of Lasith Embuldeniya, Ramesh Mendis and Praveen Jayawickrama besides Vandersay.

Veteran batters Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal have also retained their place in the squad after an impressive display against Bangladesh last month. Sri Lanka’s sqaud also features young batting stars in Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. Both of them were impressive in their ODI series win over Australia.

The two-match Test series is slated to get underway in Galle on June 29.

Sri Lanka Test Squad:

Dimuth Karunaratne (captain), Pathum Nissanka, Oshada Fernando, Angelo Mathews, Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kamindu Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Ramesh Mendis, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Vishwa Fernando, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka, Praveen Jayawickrama, Lasith Embuldeniya, Jeffrey Vandersay.
