Australia skipper Pat Cummins on Friday (March 11) confirmed that leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson will make his debut in the second Test against Pakistan, starting March 12 in Karachi.

Swepson has been included to bowl in tandem with seasoned spinner Nathan Lyon on a pitch that is expected to turn.

While announcing the playing XI for the all-important Test match, Cummins also informed that pacer Josh Hazlewood will make way for Swepson in the playing XI.

"He's pumped and to be honest, we're all pumped for Swepo," Cummins said. "It's been a long time running drinks over the last couple of years, but he is absolutely ready.

"He has been a huge part of the squad, even though he hasn't been playing. So we're really excited to see him get a chance."

Notably, the first Test between Pakistan and Australia ended in a dull draw in Rawalpindi earlier this week.

Batting first, the hosts piled up 476/4 (declared) on the board and then bowled out Australia for 459 on the final day. In their second innings, Pakistan posted 252/0 as both openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq hit a hundred each.

Australia’s star-studded bowling attack managed to claim only four wickets in the Test match despite bowling at Pakistan for close to three days.

Australia XI for second Test:

David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Swepson
