Ashes 2021-22: Cricket fraternity reacts in awe as Travis Head slams 85-ball ton on Day 2 at Gabba

Travis Head's swashbuckling century has put Australia in a commanding position at stumps on Day 2.

Travis Head starred with the bat for Australia on Day 2 of the first Ashes 2021-22 Test at Gabba, Brisbane on Thursday (December 9).

The southpaw came out to bat when Australia were in a reasonable position at 189/3, having secured a handy first-innings lead of 42 runs. However, Head’s onslaught put the hosts in a commanding position as he slammed a quick-fire century.

Head attacked the England bowlers from the outset and notched up his ton in just 85 balls. He finished the day on 112 not out off 95 balls, taking Australia to 343/7 and extending their first-innings lead to a massive 196.

It was Travis Head’s third hundred in the longest format of the game and his first in the Ashes. His knock was studded with 12 fours, 2 sixes and it entertained the fans and cricket pundits alike.

Cricket experts on Twitter lauded the left-hander for his swashbuckling century, which enabled the Aussies to target an innings victory at Gabba.
