The Test series will be played behind the closed doors in Jamaica due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the 13-member West Indies squad for the first Test of the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan, starting from Thursday (August 12) at Sabina Park, Jamaica.
The two-match Test series is the first of six series for the West Indies in the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). The series will kick off the WTC 2021-23 campaign for both the West Indies and Pakistan. The second will be played at the same venue from August 20-24.
Well, the hosts recalled their star all-rounder Roston Chase, leg-spinner Jomel Warrican and batsman Nkrumah Bonner for the first Test series against Pakistan.
CWI chief selector Roger Harper said: “The Selection Panel chose a squad that provides both pace and spin bowling options. With Roston Chase included, variety was considered in the selection of Jomel Warrican.”

He added, “It is good to have Nkrumah Bonner back. The team does very well when our batsmen score centuries as we saw against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. So, I look forward to our batsmen scoring big.”
Noteworthy, Pakistan enjoys a 6-5 edge over the West Indies in their last 17 Test series while the tourists Pakistan clinched their first-ever Test series victory 2-1 when they last toured the Caribbean in 2016-17 under the captaincy of Misbah-ul-Haq.
