Rain played spoilsport once more as the fourth day’s play in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand got abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Amid the disappointment, former England captain Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter and wrote that England must not host any important cricket game.

“It pains me to say it, but a ONE OFF & incredibly important cricket game should NOT be played in the UK,” he tweeted.

In another post, Pietersen added that if it was to him a neutral venue like Dubai would have hosted the WTC final.

“If it was up to me, Dubai would always host a one off match like this WTC game. Neutral venue, fabulous stadium, guaranteed weather, excellent training facilities and a travel hub! Oh, and ICC home is next to the stadium,” he further wrote.

The opening day of the WTC final was also washed off by rain and even toss was not possible while 64.4 overs were bowled on the second day before bad light stopped the game.

On Day 3, the weather remained good for most part and almost 77 overs were bowled but poor light played spoilsport in the final session.

Coming to the match, India lost 7 wickets for 71 runs on Day 3 to get bowled out for 217 in their first innings. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer with 49.

In reply, the Kiwis scored 101/2 at the close of play with skipper Kane Williamson (12) and veteran Ross Taylor (0) unbeaten at the crease.
