Prasidh Krishna is the fourth KKR player to contract the deadly virus.
In a major development, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Prasidh Krishna returned COVID-19 positive on Saturday (May 8), a day after he was picked for India’s tour of England as a standby player.
According to a Cricbuzz report, Prasidh tested negative when he was with the franchise in Ahmedabad, where a couple of their players - Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier - had contracted the deadly virus.
However, the 25-year-old fast bowler tested positive on returning home in Bangalore.
"Until he left the bubble he was fine," Cricbuzz quoted a KKR source as saying.
Now, Krishna’s participation in the England tour is under dark clouds. He will have to return negative tests before he can board the flight.
"It will be subject to fitness clearance like Wriddhiman Saha, who too had tested positive while being in the IPL bubble," a BCCI source told Cricbuzz.
Overall, Prasidh Krishna is the fourth KKR player to test COVID-19 positive.
Earlier on Saturday (May 8), New Zealand's wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert failed both his pre-departure RT-PCR tests and missed the flight back home with other players and support staff.
The 2021 edition of Indian Premier League was postponed indefinitely on Tuesday (May 4) after the virus breached the bio-bubble and infected a number of players and support staff members.
