England captain Joe Root came up with a beautiful gesture for a fan who waited 10 months to watch England play in Sri Lanka. Root, after completing his doubled hundred at Galle, waved his bat to Rob Lewis, a fan who had traveled to Sri Lanka for the Test series 10 months back.

Rob had to wait for the series after the schedule was postponed because of Coronavirus. Despite the decision from both cricket boards, he didn't return home from Sri Lanka and stayed there from last March.

Although no spectators were allowed for the opening Test, Lewis was ordered off the historic ramparts of Galle Fort on Day 1. He was allowed to watch the match after Sri Lanka Cricket Board granted special permission on Day 2.

"Big thank you to @OfficialSLC and the Police (especially the 5 behind me) for granting me permission to stand on the fort allowing me to carry out my important media duties from an adequate vantage point.", he tweeted and thanked them.

Root's gesture made Rob's wait for 10 months worth it in the end. The knock from the England captain would have turned it even more special. Root was dismissed for 228, and he also reached the milestone of 8,000 runs in Tests.
