The home team won the second Test inside three days.
South Africa completed an emphatic 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka inside three days in the second Test in Johannesburg on Tuesday (January 5).
After taking a first-innings lead of 145 runs, the hosts bowled the visitors for 211 in the second innings. Apart from skipper Dimuth Karunaratne (103), none of the Sri Lankan batsmen managed to touch the 40-run mark as South Africa were set a paltry 67-run target for victory.
Lungi Ngidi was the stand-out bowler for the Proteas, claiming 4 wickets by conceding 44 runs in his 15 overs. Lutho Sipamla (3-40) and Anrich Nortje (2-64) also took five wickets between them.
Chasing the target, South Africa got over the line without any hiccup. Openers Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar remained unbeaten on 36 and 31, respectively.
With this victory, South Africa also inflicted a 2-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka and avenged their home series loss at the hands of the same opposition in 2019.

Sri Lanka 157/10 & 211/10 (Dimuth Karunaratne 103; Lungi Ngidi 4-44) lost to South Africa 302/10 and 67/0 (Aiden Markram 36*; Dean Elgar 31*) by 10 wickets.
