India is due to travel down under for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year.

Financially weakened by the game's suspension amid COVID-19 pandemic, Cricket Australia (CA) is exploring all options to safeguard the next summer, where a lucrative home Test series against India is scheduled.

Among them, one option that is being mooted is to contest the entire Border-Gavaskar Trophy at just one Test venue whenever the on-field play is resumable.

And pacer Josh Hazlewood believes if it does come down that, the venue which shall be picked for the series is the iconic Adelaide Oval.

"The bowlers and batters would probably be happy with that, it's (Adelaide Oval) probably been the best cricket wicket the last four or five years," Hazlewood was quoted as saying by the Australian media.

"It gives a bit to both batting and bowling, I wouldn't mind it. It's not ideal though. We want to get around to all parts of Australia and challenge ourselves on all those different wickets."

India's long tour down under is scheduled to kickstart in the month of October with the first of the three T20Is, just prior to the T20 World Cup, before the focus shifts to the much-anticipated four-match Test series. The tour is set to culminate with a three-match ODI series in the middle of next January.

Personally, Hazlewood was targetting his IPL 2020 stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to possibly make a comeback to the Aussie T20I line-up before the World Cup on home shores.

"If we don't play another game before the World Cup it's going to be tough to get into," he said.

"If an opportunity opens up, through injury or whatever, I'd take that. The IPL was going to be a good opportunity for me in T20 cricket, to hopefully do well for Chennai Super Kings and put my name forward for that World Cup," Hazlewood added.
