Ashes 2019: WATCH: Steve Smith says "he got me and dirtied my clothes" over Bairstow's fake run-out attempt

Jonny Bairstow faked receiving a throw making Smith dive, despite the throw going to bowlers' end.

Australia batsman Steve Smith was tricked by the England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow during the second day of ongoing fifth Ashes Test.

Smith was running for the second run when Bairstow decided to have some fun. He pretended like throw is coming at his end and that put Smith under pressure to reach the crease on time. Funnily, the ball was thrown at bowler's end. Smith dived to save himself. He realized everything only after getting up and it was hilarious to watch.

Former Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara had done the same once against Pakistan batsman Ahmad Shahzad. Smith accepted that Bairstow's fake attempt of run-out fooled him. "He got me there, didn't he? Dirtied my clothes. He didn't say anything, I don't think, but he got me. I didn't know where the ball was. Bloody thing, faked it. He got me. I don't know what else to say," Smith said during the press conference after stumps.

The Australia stalwart went on to score 80 runs in the first innings. This is his lowest score of the current Ashes. Australia scored 225 in reply of England's 294 in first innings.
