Deepti's dismissal of Charlie Dean helped India win the series 3-0.
The Indian women's team defeated England in the third ODI at Lord's last month to win the series 3-0. The match also marked the farewell of Jhulan Goswami, who was perhaps the greatest female seamer to ever compete in the sport.
However, the episode that hogged the most limelight was Deepti Sharma running out Charlie Dean at the non-striker’s end which ended the match.
Although the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) moved the act, colloquially termed "Mankading," from the "Unfair Play" area to the "Run out" section and the International Cricket Council approved it, many former and current cricketers had something to say about the infamous incident.

While many criticized Deepti for the run-out, she also found support from several cricketers. The latest to come out in support of her is none other than batting icon Sachin Tendulkar.
"She was playing to what the laws of the game are," Tendulkar told Sportstar.
He argued that the whole “spirit of cricket” debate should have arisen if Deepti had done anything outside of the rules.
"Spirit of cricket… whatever you are playing within the rules of the game, that is spirit of cricket," he added.
When asked about whether he would ever run the non-striker batter out, the former cricketer replied saying that since it's legal now, he would not think twice about it.
“It’s a rule now. If a player is short of the crease or doesn’t make the crease, then the batter is given out, right? Just like he misses a ball that’s heading toward stumps and in line of the stumps, he is given out lbw. So the ICC has introduced the rule that if you are out of the crease (before the ball is bowled), then you are run out," he added.
