CWG 2022: Pooja Vastrakar set to join Indian team after recovering from COVID-19- Report

Pooja Vastrakar and S Meghana had tested positive for Covid-19 before the CWG 2022.

India all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar is all set to join the Indian team in Birmingham for the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 after recovering from Covid-19 reports have suggested. She is believed to have returned a negative Test and will be available for the final group game against Barbados on August 3.

Vastrakar and S Meghana had tested positive for Covid-19 and were in quarantine in NCA, Bengaluru. An official from the Indian Olympics Association (IOA) had confirmed S Meghana and Vastrakar returned positive tests a day after the India team had left for the Commonwealth Games on Monday.

According to the latest tweet of Women’s CricZone, Vastrakar will soon fly to Birmingham and join the team ahead of the final group stage game.

Earlier on Thursday, Meghana came out of the quarantine following a negative Covid test and posted a story on her Instagram account featuring the boarding pass of her flight to Birmingham, indicating that she is on her way to join the Indian team for the multi-nation event.

India started their campaign with a loss to Australia in the first match. Despite Renuka Singh’s 4/18 and Harmanpreet Kaur’s fifty, Australia managed to chase down the 155-run target despite being 49/5 at one stage. Grace Harris slammed 52* to help Australia win by 3 wickets and one over to spare.
