Alyssa Healy was the Player of the Match and Series in Australia's World Cup 2022 victory.
Alyssa Healy, Australia’s star wicketkeeper-batter, believes that the 2022 World Cup champions will be able to dominate women's cricket for the next 10-15 years, given the emergence of young talent in Australian cricket.
The star cricketer played a record-breaking knock of 170 in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 final to help the Australia women’s cricket team beat England by 72 runs to win their seventh 50-overs World Cup title.
Healy was named the Player of the Match and Player of the Series for her wonderful batting efforts.
Healy told Fox Sports: “To be part of a team that is constantly driving for perfection, it can drive you crazy but at the same time it just makes you so much better. Yesterday was near flawless ... the way we went about things was pretty special.”
She added, “I'm really proud of being part of a squad that sat down and reinvented themselves and reinvented the way they wanted to play the game. To go out there and execute that over five years is something really special. This is the final piece of the puzzle.”
Meanwhile, Healy cited the example of the successful introduction of relative youngsters Alana King, Amanda-Jade Wellington, and Annabel Sutherland at the World Cup 2022, saying that Australia can sustain that policy for a good time to come.
The 32-year-old further explained, “We've got incredible depth and incredible talent within this squad. We've got so many young players who are already performing so well on the international scene and that's just so exciting for the future of the game.”
Healy concluded, “The fact that we've been able to continue to bring in these young players ... I'm sure Australian cricket's going to be in good hands for the next 10 to 15 years at least.”
