The final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 was played at Christchurch on April 3, 2022, between Australia and defending champions England. It was a high voltage final which unfortunately was dominated by Meg Lanning and her team.

Heather Knight of England won the toss and chose to bowl first. However, the decision backfired spectacularly as Australia piled up 356/5 in 50 overs, the highest ever total in a Women’s World Cup final.

This was mostly due to Alyssa Healy’s record-breaking 170 in 138 balls with 26 fours, Apart from her, Rachel Haynes made 68 and Beth Mooney made 62 to contribute to the final total as well. For England, Anya Shrubsole picked 3/46.

The total was a daunting one and despite a valiant 148* from Nat Sciver, England fell short as Megan Schutt removed Tammy Beaumont for 27 and Danni Wyatt for 4 runs. Heather Knight fell for 26 to Alana King. Sciver remained unbeaten on 148, hitting 15 fours and 1 six in 121 balls faced.

The remainder of England's batting couldn’t keep up with the pressure of chasing such a huge target and folded up in 43.4 overs for 285 and lost the match by 71 runs.
