T20 World Cup 2024: Cricket Australia shares its T20 WC XI; Rohit Sharma snubbed for captaincy, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav ignored

India and South Africa will play the final of the T20 World Cup on June 29.

The T20 World Cup 2024 has reached its summit clash as India will take on South Africa in the final at Barbados on June 29, 2024.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will be aiming for their second T20 World Cup title and their maiden ICC trophy in 11 years, while Aiden Markram's men will be hoping to win the first-ever world title in men's cricket.

Ahead of the game at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, Cricket Australia released their best XI from the T20 World Cup tournament. The XI comprises of three players from India, two each from Afghanistan and Australia, and one apiece from South Africa, the USA, and Bangladesh.

Rohit Sharma of India and Australia’s Travis Head have been named as openers of the team. Rohit Sharma has smashed 248 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 155.97, while Travis Head scored 255 runs in 7 games.

However, when it came to captaincy, Cricket Australia ignored both Rohit Sharma and Aiden Markam and instead picked the encouraging leader of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan as skipper of its T20 WC Xi.

Cricket Australia ignored India's Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper and rather picked Nicholas Pooran, who scored 228 runs in seven innings for West Indies and completed the top order with the addition of Aaron Jones of the USA.

Marcus Stoinis and Hardik Pandya have been named as two all-rounders in the XI. Pandya has scored 139 runs in 7 games with one fifty and has taken 8 wickets with a best of 3/27. As for Stoinis, he has taken 10 wickets and scored 169 runs with two fifties to his name.

The bowling line-up comprises two spinners – Rashid Khan of Afghanistan and Bangladesh's Rishad Hossain. Rashid Khan has 14 wickets for his name in the tournament, while Rishad Hossain took 14 wickets as well.

As for the pacers, Cricket Australia opted for Jasprit Bumrah and Fazalhaq Farooqi. Bumrah has 13 wickets at an economy of 4.12, while Fazalhaq took 17 wickets including one of the two fifers in the tournament.
