Rohit Sharma will lead India in final of T20 WC 2024 against South Africa on Saturday.
Rohit Sharma led from the front, scoring 57 after India was asked to bat first by England captain Jos Buttler, who won the toss. Rohit got support from Suryakumar Yadav (47) and contributions by Hardik Pandya (23), Ravindra Jadeja (17*), and Akshar Patel (10) powered India to an above-par total of 171/7 in 20 overs.
In reply, Akshar Patel with 3/23 and Kuldeep Yadav (3/19) broke the England batting’s spine. Harry Brook with 25 and Jofra Archer with 21 were the only ones who could score some runs, apart from captain Buttler, who made 23. England was bundled out for 103 runs.
India won the game by 68 runs and will now face South Africa in the final in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
After the two sides reached their respective dressing rooms post the handshakes, Rohit Sharma sat outside the door and was extremely emotional. He was seen possibly wiping off tears and this led to Virat Kohli comforting him in a heartfelt gesture.
