Legendary India cricketer Kapil Dev reserved special praise for India captain Rohit Sharma and compared his style of play with Virat Kohli.
Rohit led India's entry into the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals with a stunning knock of 92 off 41 balls, which laid the foundation of India's total of 205/5 and the subsequent 24-run win over Australia in the 'Super 8s' stage of the tournament.
On the other hand, Kohli has not been able to get going in the tournament and has 66 runs in 6 games with a highest score of 37.
Comparing Rohit to Virat Kohli, Kapil said that the skipper doesn't show his aggression like the animated Kohli.
"If Virat Kohli can lift 150 kg and 250kg dumbbells, that doesn't mean Rohit should do the same. It seems like Rohit knows his game very well. He plays within himself. He is not like Virat Kohli and doesn't jump around. Rohit is aware of his limitations and there is no one better than him in that respect, not even Virat," said Kapil at an 'ABP Live' event.
Kapil further lauded Rohit for his captaincy skills and added, "Many big players come, but they come for themselves, even do captaincy for themselves but Rohit gets one extra tick in the box because he keeps the entire team happy."
Rohit will lead India in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup on Thursday against reigning champions England. However, rain poses a severe threat to the game in Guyana.
If the match is abandoned because there is no reserve day for the second semifinal, India will progress to the final based on their superior performance in the 'Super 8s'. India won Group 1, while England finished second in Group 2.
