Amir has played well for Pakistan in T20 World Cup, taking five wickets in the first three games.
Mohammad Amir starred with 2 wickets against Canada as the victory kept Pakistan alive in the tournament. Pakistan had lost their first two matches in the T20 World Cup to the USA and India.
After the match, Harbhajan Singh interviewed Mohammad Amir and said: "You have been a champion bowler for Pakistan. There is a faith that whenever you have the ball in hand, you will help the team with three to four wickets."
However, this gesture of Harbhajan Singh didn’t sit down well with netizens, who were quick to dig up his old tweet in which he had called the Pakistan pacer "fixer".
Meanwhile, a fan then recalled a tweet that Harbhajan posted on social media in 2021, calling Amir a fixer.
"Fixer ko sixer.. out of the park @iamamirofficial chal daffa ho ja," Harbhajan had written in the tweet in which he posted the video of him hitting Amir for a match-winning six vs Pakistan in the 2010 Asia Cup.
Amir's career has been tarnished by controversy, including his role in the 2010 spot-fixing incident in England. The International Cricket Council (ICC) banned Amir for five years. After serving his ban, the left-arm bowler returned to the team in 2016 and helped them win the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.
Amir, who announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020, reversed his decision in March 2024 before being chosen for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Amir has played well for Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup, taking five wickets in the first three games.
The netizens also shared their thoughts on Harbhajan Singh’s U-turn on Mohammad Amir and praised the Pakistani pacer.
