Former World Cup winners Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh have left India out of the race to win the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in June in the USA and the West Indies.

Gambhir and Yuvraj shared their thoughts in a video released by soft drink brand “ThumsUp” on Instagram. They chose their picks as the T20 World Cup winner next year.

The legendary all-rounder picked South Africa as his favorite to win the T20 World Cup 2024 next year. Yuvraj also felt Pakistan is a strong contender to win the coveted trophy.

On the other hand, Gambhir didn’t mention his favorites for the T20 World Cup 2024 but said that Afghanistan, Australia, and England could pose a real threat to India in the mega event.

Gambhir believes that Afghanistan could be a surprise team and might defeat India, especially in the conditions where the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played.

He also thinks that the most successful team in the ICC events, Australia, will pose a challenge for India, as they have in the past.

In the video, Gautam Gambhir said: “Biggest Threat to India in T20 World Cup, Afghanistan in those conditions can be very dangerous, then Australia because they have got Impact players and England because they play T20 cricket as it should be.”

On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh predicts that South Africa will win the 2024 T20 World Cup. He believes that the Proteas will be highly motivated to win the title, as their only ICC trophy win came in 1998.

The former India all-rounder also pointed out South Africa's impressive performance in the recent ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, where they reached the semi-finals. He also feels Pakistan is a formidable team and could pose a challenge for Team India in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj Singh said: “I have a different opinion here than I want them to and I think South Africa will win. They have not won a white ball tournament and the way I saw their progress in the 50-over World Cup. And then obviously there’s Pakistan who are very dangerous.”
