Team India took on Bangladesh on Wednesday (November 02) at the Adelaide Oval and was put in to bat first. The team compiled a competitive total of 184/6 with Virat Kohli smashing a 44-ball 66*, and KL Rahul too scoring a graceful half-century off 32 balls.

The total made India the favorites to win the game, but Litton Das of Bangladesh led the batting charge and stormed to his half-century off just 21 deliveries. The chasing team reached 66 without loss after 7 overs, turning a game that India was likely to win into one that could go either way.

When the innings resumed after a play break due to rain, the Bangla Tigers needed 85 runs from 9 overs. Following a well-made 60 off just 27 balls, Litton was eventually run out by a direct hit from KL Rahul.

The wickets kept tumbling from there on and eventually, the Shakib Al Hasan-led side fell short of the target by 5 runs.

However, after the match, Kohli gifted his bat to Das after the 28-year-old belted the formidable Indian bowling attack on Sunday.

"When we were sitting in the dining hall, Virat Kohli came and gifted a bat to Litton. According to me, it was a moment of inspiration for Litton,"  Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus was quoted as saying by BDcrictime Bangla.

Jalal praised Das saying that the star batter has developed into a formidable all-format player for his national team.

"Litton is a class batter. We have seen him play classical shots. He is a brilliant player in Tests and ODIs. Recently, he has started playing well in T20Is as well," he stated.

Rohit Sharma and his men will lock horns with Zimbabwe in their last Super 12 encounter on Sunday (November 06) in Melbourne.
