India posted 133/9 against South Africa at Perth.
Pakistan registered their first victory in the tournament earlier in the day, defeating the Netherlands by 6 wickets after restricting the Oranje army to 91/9 with Mohammad Wasim taking 4 wickets and Shadab Khan taking 3 wickets. In reply, Mohammad Rizwan made 49 as Pakistan won in 13.5 overs.
Meanwhile, India managed only 133/9 in their match against South Africa as Lungi Ngidi picked 4/29 and Wayne Parnell took 3/15 on the bouncy Perth track under lights. Suryakumar Yadav was the lone warrior for India making 68 runs in 39 balls.
However, India's struggle against the Proteas left Akhtar concerned and fuming as he took to Twitter to share a video where he says, “Maine kaha tha ki India needs to win for Pakistan. Pakistan ko marwna nehi hai. Yeh toh Pakistan ko marwa rahe hai. Char out karwadiye. Pata nehi aagey kya hoga (I said India need to win, but they are kiling Pakistan's chances here. We don't need that. 4 wickets have already gone down, don't know what else will happen).”
A win here for India will ensure that Pakistan remains in the race for the semis given that the Men in Green also win all of the remaining matches in Group 2.
