India captain Rohit Sharma was a relieved man after the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2022 opening match at the MCG on October 23, all thanks to the heroics of Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya with the bat and earlier Arshdeep Singh with the ball.

After Rohit won the toss and chose to bowl first, Arshdeep and Hardik picked 3 wickets each as Pakistan was restricted to 159/8 in 20 overs with Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood making fifties.

In reply, India was in trouble at 45/4 in 10 overs, but then a 113-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya brought India back into the game. Though Pandya got out for 40 runs in the last over, Kohli showed his absolute magic as he almost single-handedly took India to win when 48 runs were needed off the last 3 overs.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 82 in 53 balls with 4 sixes and 6 fours to his name, as India won the match on the last ball with 4 wickets in hand.
