India will kick off their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on October 23 against Pakistan.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 finally got underway on Sunday (October 16), with the Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka suffering a shock defeat to Namibia in the tournament opener in Geelong.
On the other hand, the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022 will begin on October 22 with two trans-Tasman rivals, Australia and New Zealand, facing off at the SCG, whereas India will kickstart its campaign against the arch-rivals, Pakistan, on October 23 at the iconic MCG.
Well, a day before the start of the tournament in Australia, all 16 captains were invited to a mega press conference in Melbourne, where they all had a great time together and talked about the event.
Meanwhile, before the media interaction, India captain Rohit Sharma was asked about the arrangements made by the organizers for the pre-tournament press conference, and his response caught everyone’s attention.
Rohit replied by saying, “Yaa it's pretty cool actually, just a Game of Thrones kind of feel.”
Now, the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared that clip from the media interaction on Instagram with an epic twist, as they captioned it in the Indian skipper’s style.
ICC captioned the clip: “W̶i̶n̶t̶e̶r̶ #T20WorldCup is coming #cricket #cricketreels #got.”
Earlier, Rohit spoke about the significance of the T20 World Cup.
He said: “We play a big part in that. All of us are ambassadors in our own way. It's important for us to lead by example, especially the kids. We want the next generation to play the sport. We all encourage them to come forward and take up the sport. That's what we want. We want to make it as global as we can.”
