India defeated Australia by 6 runs in their first warm-up match in Brisbane.
India batted first after Aaron Finch won the toss and chose to bowl first. They put on 186/7 in 20 overs with KL Rahul making 57 and Suryakumar Yadav scoring 50 runs. Dinesh Karthik also contributed 20 runs in 14 balls.
In reply, Australia gave India a good run for their money in the chase, with captain Finch leading from the front with 76 off 54 balls and Mitchell Marsh smoking 35 in 18 balls while opening the innings.
Glenn Maxwell made 23 runs, but then the Indian bowlers controlled the death overs brilliantly, with even Mohammad Shami picking 3 wickets for 4 runs in 5 balls he bowled in the 20th over.
But Virat Kohli was the one who also contributed to India’s win on the field as he affected a brilliant run out of the dangerous Tim David and then took a brilliant one-handed catch at the boundary ropes to take care of Pat Cummins.
Josh Inglish had tapped the ball to the leg side and set up for a quick single, but Virat Kohli got to the ball first at mid-wicket and in one swift motion threw the ball at stumps, which demolished the timber with David well out of his crease.

The second brilliance of Kohli in the field came in the last over as Pat Cummins hit Mohammad Shami towards the long-on boundary and the ball was sailing over the fielder’s head for a six and a potential Australia win.
