New Zealand defeated India in the Super 12 match by 8 wickets on October 31.
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen on Monday (November 1) posted a tweet in support of Team India after they suffered back-to-back defeats in the T20 World Cup 2021. New Zealand beat India by 8 wickets in Dubai to secure two points in their second match.
Indian cricket team faced backlash from the fans for their performance in the tournament. Pietersen said players are not robots and they need support all the time.
"There is a winner and a loser in the game. No player goes out to lose. It is the greatest honour to represent your country. Please realize that the people in the game are not robots and they need support at all times," he tweeted in Hindi.
India haven't defeated New Zealand in the T20 World Cup and the Kiwis continued their streak with a win on Sunday. Earlier, India were crushed by Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2021 opener by 10 wickets.
Ex-Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir had also slammed the trolls for targetting Team India after their losses in the tournament. "I still believe India is the best team it's just a matter of having a good time or bad time but abusing players and their family is such a shame don't forget the end of the day it's just a game of cricket," Amir tweeted.
Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh asked the fans not to be too harsh on the players as they are the ones hurting the most after a loss.
"Let's not be harsh on our players. Yes, we know them for better cricket. Sabse jyada players ko hurt hota hai after such results. but well done to @BLACKCAPS NZ for winning the match. they were fantastic in all departments," tweeted Harbhajan.
