The T20 World Cup 2021 will be played from October 17- November 14 in UAE and Oman.
Originally the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup was to be held in India, however, the country suffered from the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and in July, it was decided by the BCCI and ICC that the tournament would be shifted to the UAE and Oman, which had been chosen as the backup venues.
The tournament sees the hosts India and 7 other top-ranked T20I teams qualify directly for the main Super 12s round. Out of the main list of teams, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh didn’t qualify for the Super 12s and instead will go through a qualifying first round.
The first round has 8 teams divided into two groups with Group A consisting of Ireland, Namibia, Netherlands, and Sri Lanka. Group B consists of Bangladesh, Oman, Papua New Guinea, and Scotland. The top two ranked teams in both groups will qualify for the main draw.
The Super 12s have also been divided into two groups with Australia, England, South Africa, and West Indies, along with two qualifiers making up Group 1. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and New Zealand make up Group 2 along with two qualifiers.
