Harbhajan also felt Shaw and Kishan shouldn't be ignored for the upcoming ICC tournament.
While Prithvi Shaw hit 43 runs off just 24 balls, Ishan Kishan registered a 33 ball 50 on his debut, including a six off the first ball faced. He now holds the record for the second-fastest half-century on debut in ODIs. Suryakumar Yadav finished things in a hurry, scoring an unbeaten 31 runs off 20 balls.
Veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that it will not be easy for the selectors to ignore Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He added that India will need this brand of positive cricket to win the tournament in UAE.
“You can judge a player on his performances. The way Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan have batted in an international game shows how capable they are and it will be difficult to ignore them for the T20 World Cup. If you want to win the World Cup you need players like them. They don't see who is bowling in the opposition. They just back their natural game,” Harbhajan Singh told Sports Tak.
“They should not be ignored based on their performances. Even if selectors have to replace a senior player, they should go ahead and do it. I also feel Suryakumar Yadav has sealed his place for the T20 World Cup. He not only plays an attacking brand of cricket but is also capable of preserving his wicket and scoring quickly at the same time,” Harbhajan concluded.
