With the T20 World Cup 2021 just around the corner, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about the batsmen Team India should go in with for the ICC tournament in his latest YouTube video.

According to Chopra, Virat Kohli and Co might not be looking at Shikhar Dhawan for the upcoming T20 World Cup that will be played in the UAE later this year.

Even though the southpaw has been a regular at the top of the order with Rohit Sharma, with the emergence of KL Rahul and captain Virat Kohli also showing his interest in opening the innings, Dhawan’s place has become vulnerable in T20Is.

I feel the team might not be looking at him (Shikhar Dhawan). It is just my thought because last when you played him in the T20Is, he played just one match and was dropped for four. That wasn't fair, to begin with,Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Pressure piling on Virat Kohli and T20 World Cup extremely crucial for his captaincy- Saba Karim

However, his IPL has been so good that you again want to go towards him but can't keep doing this, that you do one thing first and then the other thing. But they have made him the captain now, so if he does well, his name will be there in the list,” he added.

The cricketer-turned-commentator believes that there are 2 spots up for grabs in the Indian team taking part in the showpiece event and it will be a four-way battle among Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer.

I feel Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer - two out of these four might get picked. Ishan Kishan, Manish Pandey, and Sanju Samson might actually fall behind in this race,” the former opener said.

As Team India led by Shikhar Dhawan will be touring Sri Lanka for three-match ODI and as many T20Is series, it will be interesting to see how the players perform considering the T20 World Cup berths are up for grabs.
