Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir and players Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, and Rohit Sharma wished the Indian women’s team the very best ahead of their T20 World Cup 2026 tournament opener on June 14, 2026.

Indian women will clash with archrivals Pakistan Women in Birmingham on Sunday in a bid to get their T20 World Cup campaign started on a good note. India and Pakistan are placed in Group A of the tournament along with Australia, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and South Africa.

Ahead of their first game in the T20 World Cup 2026, India's women's team received best wishes from current T20 World Cup 2026-winning India head coach Gautam Gambhir and T20 World Cup 2024-winning captain Rohit Sharma.

"They've been playing really good cricket for the past few years now. I know in T20 cricket they've come very close, but I want this time around to go all the way. Everyone's rooting for them. They have a solid team, a very well-balanced team. And they'll enjoy playing in England. Best wishes from all of us here in Men's Team India," Rohit said in a video shared by the BCCI.

In his motivational speech, head coach Gautam Gambhir urged the players to welcome the occasion with optimism.

"I'm sure that you're going to make 140 crore Indians proud. Not many people get the opportunity to represent the country on the world stage. Don't be scared of making a mistake. Every time you're in doubt, take the positive route. Good luck, bring the cup home," Gambhir said.

Furthermore, India’s ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill also expressed confidence in the women's side to win their maiden T20 trophy.

"You guys have won it before, and you'll do it again. Our full wishes to you and all the best for the World Cup," Gill said.

Newly appointed T20I captain Shreyas Iyer called on the team to maintain an aggressive approach throughout the tournament.

"Here's wishing all the very best to the Indian women's cricket team. " Be fearless, be ruthless, and play to win," he said.

Ishan Kishan advised the players to stay straightforward and have faith in the strategies that have worked for them.

"You all have been playing amazing cricket. Just keep it simple and trust what you have done throughout the year. We are all very proud of you and hope we win this trophy," Kishan added.
