India and Pakistan are set to clash on February 15 in Colombo in T20 World Cup.
Former Pakistan cricketers Rashid Latif, Ahmed Shehzad, and Mohammad Amir appeared on a Pakistani TV show and discussed ace batter Babar Azam’s role in the upcoming India v Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match.
This mega Group A clash will happen on Sunday, February 15, in Colombo. Pakistan has won both of its first two games, while India defeated the USA in their tournament opener and will face Namibia on February 12.
Babar Azam, a Pakistan cricket mainstay, is currently trying to preserve his place in the team. After being dismissed for 15 runs off 18 balls in Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2026 opener against the Netherlands, he somewhat redeemed himself by scoring 46 runs off 32 balls against the United States.
However, several of his former teammates are unsure whether Babar has what it takes to perform against India in the high-profile match on Sunday.
Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Amir, and Rashid Latif mocked Babar on live television and wagered heavily on his probable participation in the India match.
During a conversation on a Pakistani television program, Shehzad pledged to deliver food for everyone in the audience and the support crew if Babar won the match for Pakistan. Amir, on the other hand, stated that he may come out of retirement if Babar scores 50 or more runs with a strike rate of more than 150.
The show's anchor then promised on behalf of Mohammad Amir, "If Babar, let's say, with a strike rate of 160... Yes. Keep it like that. If he plays innings with a strike rate of 160 and helps Pakistan win, Amir will take his retirement back. If he plays big innings with a strike rate of 160, then."
Shehzad intervened and said, "Let's be realistic. If he plays a match-winning inning with a strike rate of 150 and scores 50 plus, then all these conditions are on."
Rashid Latif then left everyone in stitches as he said, "He doesn't even bat that long."
