The ODI series is scheduled to get underway on August 2 in Colombo.
The BCCI selection committee on Thursday (July 18) announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
There were a lot of speculations over skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli’s participation, but they made themselves available for the series. However, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been granted rest for the Sri Lanka tour.
The ODI squad features rising star Shubman Gill as vice-captain, and also sees the return of Shreyas Iyer, who was dropped from the BCCI central contract earlier this year.
KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are the two designated wicketkeeper batters in the side. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been rested for the ODIs and, thus, Shivam Dube appears in the squad.
Kuldeep Yadav is the premier spinner in the squad, while Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar have been picked for the spin all-rounders role.
Arshdeep will spearhead the pace attack alongside Mohammed Siraj. Khaleel Ahmed is another fast-bowling option in the squad. Middle-order batter Riyan Parag and pacer Harshit Rana have earned their maiden ODI call-ups.
The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to get underway on August 2. All three games will be played in Colombo.
