Virat Kohli scored 38 runs in India's first innings in Centurion Test.
Kohli had been on a break since then, missing the Australia T20Is and the white-ball leg of the South Africa tour. However, when the Test match began, albeit with a delay, he made sure he ground it out in the middle after India was asked to bat first by South Africa captain Temba Bavuma.
The conditions favored the pacers due to the overcast atmosphere and dampness in the pitch after rain in the past two days. India lost Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill early when Virat Kohli can Shreyas Iyer added a fifty-plus partnership.
Both players were positive in their stoker-making and sure of defending. But still, Kagiso Rabada got the better of both of them. While Shreyas was clean bowled for 31, Kohli got an unplayable delivery from Rabada, which kissed the edge of his bat and went to the keeper behind.
Kohli walked off for 38 runs leaving India in a worry at 121/6 at one stage. But KL Rahul (101), and Shardul Thakur (24) ensured India posted a decent 245 runs on the board.
Meanwhile, during a break, Kohli got a visit from a young fan who brought an RCB jersey for him to sign. Kohli smilingly signed the jersey for the fan and also clicked a photo with him.
