SA v IND 2023-24: South Africa’s Andile Phehlukwayo and Ottniel Baartman to miss rest of India ODI series

South Africa trails 3-ODI series 0-1 after losing 1st match in Johannesburg.

South Africa and India will clash in the second ODI of the three-match series in Gqberha on December 19, 2023. However, ahead of that, the hosts have lost the services of their two players.

All-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo and pacer Ottniel Baartman will no longer be part of the upcoming two ODIs for the South Africa side. Ottniel Baartman has suffered a right side strain while Andile Phehlukwayo has faced a left side stain.

Ottniel Baartman is a 30-year-old pacer from South Africa. The right-arm pacer is an uncapped player who was picked for the IND vs SA ODI series in the absence of key pacers like Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Anrich Nortje. He was also part of the T20I series but didn’t get a single game.

Phehlukwayo played in the first ODI scored 33 runs and also took a wicket.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) shared the news of the ouster of Ottniel Baartman and Andile Phehlukwayo from the IND vs SA ODI series on their official account on X.

Beuran Hendricks has been added as a replacement to the squad. Hendricks, 33, has played 1 Test, 8 ODIs, and 19 T20Is for South Africa. Henricks last played for South Africa during a T20I game against Ireland in July 2021.
