Prasidh Krishna will feature in the third unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A.
Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna has been cleared fit to play all formats by the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) medical team after completing two days of match simulation tests in Bengaluru, Cricbuzz reported on Tuesday (November 2).
According to the report, Prasidh is expected to fly to New Zealand shortly to join the India A squad for the third and final unofficial Test against New Zealand A, scheduled to be held in Lincoln from November 7-10.
While the right-arm quick has been ruled out of the five-ODI series, he is set to be available for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand starting November 19.
Prasidh was sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies on September 30. He underwent rehabilitation at the Bengaluru-based facility and completed a match simulation on October 22. However, further tests were scheduled for November 1 and 2, indicating that the earlier assessment did not produce the desired results to get clearance.
On October 30, the BCCI issued a media release, confirming that Prasidh Krishna’s name has been withdrawn from the ODI squad. He was included in the initial squad for first three ODIs, but his final participation was subject to medical clearance.
“Prasidh Krishna, whose availability for India's five-match ODI series against New Zealand was subject to fitness clearance, is ruled out of the ODI series. The right-arm pacer, who is recovering from the hamstring injury, will need additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches,” the BCCI has said in its statement.
“Prasidh will join India A squad for the third and final four-day game against New Zealand A, subject to him clearing the Return to Play (RTP) assessment. This will give him an opportunity to gain match practice and prepare for the Test series,” the statement added.
It has now emerged that Prasidh has passed the RTP assessment with flying colors, and is ready to depart for New Zealand.
