NZ v IND 2020: England’s Alex Tudor shuts down a Sri Lankan Twitter user for saying Virat Kohli is ‘overrated’

Virat Kohli has not had a good outing in international cricket for the last 10 innings or so, as he has not been able to score a century with his highest score being 89, which came against Australia in an ODI at home.

On the current tour to New Zealand, Kohli has managed just one half-century in a T20I, while in the ongoing first Test match in Wellington, he made just 2 and 19 in two innings, leaving others to do the job, when he was needed to carry the team through tough times. After being bowled out for 165 in first innings, the Indian team conceded 348 runs, as New Zealand tail made merry on day three.

NZ v IND 2020: Twitterverse calls Steve Smith better than Kohli after his twin failures against Kiwis

His captaincy was questioned as he wasted the new ball while Boult, De Grandhomme and debutant Jamieson made big contributions with the bat. However, he was needed to score big runs in the second innings but fell into the trap set by Trent Boult, who bowled a short ball and Kohli nicked it to keeper Watling.

This led to a Sri Lankan Twitter user Daniel Alexander sharing some stats of the Indian captain in the last few games. As per his shared stats, Kohli has made 201 runs in the last 9 innings across formats at an average of 22.33 and one half-century. He also mentioned that Kohli was overrated while the likes of Steve Smith, Babar Azam and Kane Williamson scored runs in all formats.

This tweet apparently didn’t sit well with former England all-rounder Alex Tudor, who called Alexander out on his tweet. He said that he just wanted attention on his account and hence shared such stats. Tudor also mentioned that one bad tour doesn’t make Kohli a bad batsman.
