Krishna took a blow on his helmet during the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A.
Prasidh Krishna took a blow on his helmet during the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A in Lucknow. Consequently, the lanky pacer was replaced by Yash Thakur as a concussion substitute.
According to report published in IANS, the delivery hit him on the helmet, and while Krishna continued batting after going through a mandatory concussion check, he walked back to the pavilion three overs later.
Mohammed Siraj replaced him at the crease at that point. Later, when India A were bowled out for 194 in reply to Australia A's 420, Thakur came in as the last batter in Krishna’s place, making the substitution official.
While the severity of Prasidh's injury is yet to be ascertained, his availability will be closely monitored, with BCCI selectors set to announce the Test squad for the upcoming two-match home series against West Indies on Thursday (September 25).
Prasidh Krishna is in selection reckoning for a spot alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep, who formed the pace attack during India's recent Test tour of England.
The England series was a significant step in Prasidh's red-ball career. He returned with 14 wickets in three matches at an average of 37.07, showing promise as a hit-the-deck bowler.
The current A series was his first competitive outing since that tour. However, his returns were rather modest—0 for 90 in 21 overs in the first match, followed by 1 for 76 in 17 overs in the first innings of the second.
At stumps on Day 2 in Lucknow, Australia A were 16/3 in their second essay, still holding a commanding lead.
The first unofficial Test between India A and Australia A had ended in a draw. After the red-ball series, India A and Australia A will square off in three unofficial ODIs in Kanpur.
