Amir represented his country in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is.
Amir confirmed the news of his retirement with a post on social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter).
“After careful consideration, I have taken the difficult decision to retire from international cricket. These decisions are never easy but are inevitable. I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan Cricket to new heights!" Amir wrote.
“Representing my country has been and always will be the greatest honour of my life. I would sincerely like to thank the PCB, my family and friends and, above all, my fans for their continuous love & support," he added.
Mohammad Amir represented his country in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is and dismissed 119, 81, and 71 batters, respectively.
The left-arm quick first retired from international cricket in 2020 but reversed his decision earlier this year to play for the Men in Green in T20Is once again. He featured in Pakistan’s all four group matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and took a total of seven wickets.
Amir was a part of Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup winning campaign and played a key role in the national team’s 2017 Champions Trophy triumph.
