Sanju Samson has played 16 ODIs and 36 T20Is so far after making his India debut in 2015.
Sanju Samson made his international debut in 2015, but it took him almost 10 years to make a mark at the highest level.
The T20I series against Bangladesh last month saw him getting promoted as the opener, and he repaid the faith with two consecutive centuries. In doing so, the wicketkeeper-batter became the first Indian to achieve this feat in the shortest format of the game.
Despite the recent success of the Kerala cricketer, his father doesn’t seem to be happy as he feels Sanju could have become a regular face in the Indian dressing room much earlier.
In a video doing rounds on social media, Sanju’s father, Samson Vishwanath, could be heard taking a swipe at India’s previous leadership and management for ruining his son’s career.
Speaking to MediaOne, Vishwanath held the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid accountable for wasting 10 years of his son’s career.
“There are 3-4 people who wasted 10 years of my son’s vital career…captains like Dhoni ji, Virat ji, Rohit ji and coach Dravid ji," Vishwanath said.
“These four people wasted 10 years of my son’s life, but the more they hurt him, the stronger Sanju came out of the crisis," he added.
As of today, Sanju Samson has represented India in 16 ODIs and 36 T20Is, amassing 1211 runs across the white-ball formats with three hundreds and five half-centuries.
