Rohit Sharma is known for forgetting things and even words when talking to someone.
Rishabh Pant, famed for his on-field brilliance and quick wit, offered a funny description of his interactions with Rohit Sharma, including the unexpected task of comprehending the Indian captain's distinctive Mumbai-style English.
Rohit Sharma was born in Bansod, Nagpur, but his family is from Karnataka. His native language is not Marathi or Hindi, but Telugu. However, having grown up in Mumbai, Rohit has adapted to the Mumbai style of discourse, which is a combination of Hindi and English, along with Marathi.
However, Rohit tends to mix up words and forget things throughout his statements, and according to his teammates Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, it is up to the other person to decipher and fill in the blanks what Rohit Sharma meant.
Speaking on Tanmay Bhatt’s YouTube channel, Rishabh Pant revealed that he understands Rohit Sharma’s way of communication on the field, but off the field, he struggles to decipher what the captain is saying.
"Bhai depend karta hai. Ground ke context mei toh mai samajh jaata hu, off the field kum aata hai samajh mei (I understand what Rohit says on the ground, but off the field I don't),” Pant said.
Meanwhile, Pant shared an incident in which he attempted to distract Virat Kohli during an IPL play.
He was asked in the discussion why he attempted to distract Virat Kohli during an IPL encounter earlier this year between the Delhi Capitals and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Pant, who was standing on the dressing room steps just behind the sightscreen, attempted to distract Kohli, which slightly irritated the batting legend.
"It was one of the most important matches of the season for us and we needed to perform well. I couldn't play that match and was thinking what could I do from the outside," he added.
