Mohsin Naqvi, the current PCB chief, is set to succeed Jay Shah of India as the next Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, reports have stated.

The PCB chief is expected to take over the post during an ACC meeting in October-November of this year, with his term being part of the ACC's rotating leadership arrangement.

Following the October and November sessions, Naqvi will be confirmed as Shah's successor, with his two-year tenure commencing in 2025.

“When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term. When Jay Shah steps down, the PCB chief will take over,” the PTI report stated.

Jay Shah completed four years as ACC chairman, as he was given an additional one-year after he had finished his original three-year tenure. Meanwhile, Jay Shah will move to ICC, where he was elected unopposed as the next ICC chairman and will take charge from December onwards.

Naqvi's two-year mandate will include overseeing the Asia Cup in 2025, which will be hosted in India, as well as playing a key role in the ACC's future ambitions. Naqvi, as PCB chief and ACC president, will also be involved in the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in his home country of Pakistan in 2025.

Naqvi will oversee the contentious scenario regarding the Indian national team’s participation in the Champions Trophy on Pakistani soil. The Indian team has not played in Pakistan since 2008.
